IVF & Infertility Treatment

In Vitro Fertilization or IVF is famously known as test tube baby technique. This technique is used for females who are for some reasons not able to successfully conceive.
In vitro fertilization (IVF) involves a complex series of procedures that are used for helping you conceive. With the use of this active ‘assisted reproductive technology’, the procedures are carried on with the use of your partner's sperm and your eggs. IVF treatment may also involve sperms, eggs or embryos from an anonymous or known donor. The chance for having a healthy baby with the IVF mainly depends on several factors such as age or the cause of infertility.

When is IVF necessary?

In vitro fertilization (IVF) is performed for treating infertility which might be caused by genetical problems. IVF is an invasive treatment option in which the fertilization happens in vitro, and the embryo is implanted in the uterus. IVF is performed when the following occur.
Fallopian tube damage or blockage
Ovulation disorders
Endometriosis
Uterine fibroids
Previous tubal removal or sterilization
Impaired sperm function or production
Step 1:
Fertility medications will be prescribed for stimulating egg production since multiple eggs are required. Transvaginal ultrasound technique is used for examining ovaries and blood samples are obtained for tests.
Step 2:
Eggs are retrieved with a minor surgical procedure using ultrasound imaging. Medication is provided if there is any discomfort.
Step 3:
The male needs to produce the sample of sperm to combine with the eggs collected.
Step 4:
Insemination process- the sperm and eggs are mixed and stored in a laboratory dish for fertilization. Eggs are monitored for confirmation of fertilization
Step 5:
Embryos will be transferred into the uterus of the women within 3 to 5 days using a small tube. IVF procedure is painless for most women.
